This year we celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of Juan Prim (1814-2014), in Reus, who was related to Menorca, through the opening of the fortress here. The Bicentennial Organisation has organised several acts related to his life, and especially dedicated to his death, when he was the head of the government of Spain. The play is about the last days of the General’s life and the attack he suffered on the 30th of December 1870.

Lovers, the play, comes from the film Lovers, and follows the current trend
which establishes a new relationship between films and plays. Since the
invention of the movies, many plots, characters and arguments from dramatic
literature have been portrayed on screen, and all in this new form of art hich
was named Number 7. Comedies and tragedies have filled the screens,
eventhough the change from the theatre to films has always been onsidered
somewhat problematic. Due to the fact that for a film to be theatrical meant that

It lacked in cinematrographic pureness. However, for the last few years, a
contrary movement has developed in which the theatre goes to the cinema, and this change has been greatly welcomed by the audience, because the plot which takes place on stage has the same dynamism and clearness that good films require. The film Lovers, was a great story to undergo this kind of theatrical metamorphosis, due to its peculiar style of tradegy, envolving a classical trio,the micro cosmos in which they exist, the rage they encounter and how they triumph in solving the problems they suffer for love. Carlos Mena, Kontertenor
Seine musikalische Ausbildung absolvierte er bei der Schola Cantorum Basiliensis unter Richard Levitt und René Jacobs. In die renommiertesten Konzertsäle der Welt führt ihn seine intensive Konzerttätigkeit als auch in Opernhäuser wo er zum Beispiel Radamisto von Händel oder Orfeo von Monteverdi unter der Regie von M. Haselböck und R. Jacobs gesungen hat.
Für die Labels Mirare, Glossa und Harmonia Mundi hat Mena mehr als 30 Konzerte aufgenommen und wichtige intenationale Preise dafür gewonnen. Derzeit ist er der künstlerische Direktor der Capilla de Santa Maria und Programmdirektor bei diversen nationalen und internationalen Musikfestivals. 2014 hatte er sein Debüt im Opernhaus “La Zarzuela” von Madrid mit einer Szenenaufführung “Vom Göttlichen zum Menschlichen” zu Ehren des Barockkomponisten Juan de Hidalgo.

Susana García de Salazar, Pianist
Sie begann ihre musikalische Ausbildung im baskischen Vitoria-Gasteiz und erhielt ein Stipendium an der Musikhochschule Basel. Gª de Salazar setzte ihre Studien mit Lehrer wie Efler und Oetiker fort und machte sich mit der Kammernmusik und der Welt der Lieder vertraut. LA CLOTA, Theatergruppe
La Clota ist eine der Referenztheatergruppen der letzten 25 Jahre auf den Balearen.
Viele klassische Theateraufführungen wie Ein Sommernachtstraum, von Shakespeare, Die Dreigroschen Oper von Brecht,sowie auch zeitgenössische Werke gehören zu ihrem Repertoire. Seit ihrer Gründung 1979 hat La Clota bei vielen Theaterfestivals
teilgenommen und viele Auszeichnungen erhalten.

TAL I TAL, Tänzer
Tal i tal ist eine 2004 von JT und CT gegründete Gruppe für Modernen Tanz. Für ihre Choreographien und Tanzvorführungen wurden sie 2011 mit dem 2. Preis beim Young Art for Modern Dance ausgezeichnet und sind auf vielen Bühnen der Balearen, Barcelona und Madrid aufgetreten. Seit 2012 organisieren sie im Steinbruch “Lithica” (Ciutadella) “Sommerabende in Lithica”, wo sie interdisziplinäre Events in dieser magischen Umgebung zur Aufführung bringen.

JOAN MESQUIDA, Dirigent
Erhielt er seinen Abschluss des Klarinettenstudiums am Konservatorium des Liceo in Barcelona, wo er sich auch mit der Regie befasst hat. Er besuchte mehrere Meisterkurse mit bekannten Musikern und Regiseuren und begann seine Arbeit im Jahr 2000 als Dirigent der “Agrupación Musical de Ciutadella”, ein Orchester das er immer noch leitet. Seine grosse Vielseitigkeit hat er mit Operetten, Musical und Bigband Konzerten unter Beweis gestelt. Derzeit ist er Leiter der Blaskapelle Banda Municipal von Ciutadella und einer Bigband, und Musiker der Orquestra de Cambra Illa de Menorca.

Nach 20 Jahren kontinuierlicher Aktivität ist Musica Reservata von Barcelona einer der belierbtesten Chöre des Landes mit einzigartigen religiösen Repertoire der Reinassance. MR hat mit Dirigenten wie Andrieu, Phillips, Carwood zusammengearbeitet und bei mehreren grossen spanischen Festival aufgetretten. Auch in Pälestina und Jordanien haben sie Konzerte gegeben und sind besonders interessiert an zeitgenössischen Komponisten wie Guinovart, Aracil und Perez.

Juan de la Rubia, Organist
Juan de la Rubia wurde in 1982 in Valencia geboren und ist einer der meist ausgezeichneten Organisten seiner Generation. Sein Repertoire reicht von der Alten Musik bis zum Romantizismus und Musik aus den XX und XXI Jahrhundert. Er ist als Solist an den wichtingsten Orten in Spanien und im Ausland aufgetreten und hat sieben Soloaufnamen gemacht. Er lehrt an der Hochschule für Musik in Barcelona und ist Organist an der berühmten Sagrada Familia. Als Organist, Pianist und Cembalist hat er in Valencia und Barcelona , sowie an der Universität der Künste in Berlin und am Conservatoire National de Toulouse seine Ausbildung absolviert. Bei Daniel Roth, Bernhard Haas und Enrico Viccardi besuchte er Meisterklassen und hat mehrere Auszeichnungen als Organist gewonnen. 2012 wurde er Mitglied an der Real Academia Catalana de les Arts de Sant Jordi. F.J. begann in ihrer Heimatstadt Vancouver mit dem Geigerstudium und beendete es am der State University und der Julliard School in New York mit Joel Smirnoff und Joyce Robbins. Vor 15 Jahren wechselte sie nach Europa wo sie sich mit diversen Gruppen und Orchestern der alten Musik widmet sowohl als erste Geige als auch als Concertino.

Mit ihrer Johannes Cuypers Geige von 1790 tritt sie im Musikverein Wien, im Teatre Champs Elisee, der Philharmonie Berlin und vielen anderen auf.

Andrea Motis & Joan Chamorro Group 4. September
Andrea Motis (1995) und Joan Chamorro gruppieren zahlreiche musikalische Darbietungen, eine sehr junger Sängerin und Instrumentalistin, und ein Musiker, Komponist und Produzent, mit einer langen Geschichte von nationalen und internationalen Projekten (Tete Montoliu, Slide Hampton, Bebo Valdes, Randy Brecker, The Manhattan Transfer, Stevie Wonder ….) Andrea Motis sprang auf der Bühne wo sie fast noch ein Kind war als “eine Offenbarung” zu der Zeit (mit 13 Jahren spielte sie auf Menorca mit einer Dixieland-Band -zu der Jazz Obert Bewegung gehörend -und selbst dann unter der Leitung von Chamorro. )

Joan Chamorro ist ein torrent der musikalischen Kraft und Seele der verschiedenen Projekte. Möglicherweise ist der bekannteste Projekt die Sant Andreu Jazz Band, ein erdgebundener Jazz aus der Primären Bildung enstanden. Chamorro und Motis stellen einen süßen Moment des Jazz in Katalonien, Produktionszentrum und ein Magnet für Musiker aus der ganzen Welt. Institutionen wie die Musiker Werkstatt stehen hinter der jüngeren Generation von Jazz-Musikern die Heute schon konsolidiert sind.

Mehrere Werke zeigen uns die kraftvolle Entwicklung beide Künslter, die zunehmend in den großen Jazz-Festivals gefordert werden. Dazu gehören Ignasi Terrassa, ein Pianist langen und glänzenden Karriere, der auch in Menorca durch seinen eigenen Trio bekannt ist, und der Schlagzeuger Esteve Pi wer in zahlreichen Festivals auf der ganzen Welt gespielt hat. Gegründet im Sommer 1998 Musical Youth Mahon, der Insel Menorca Chamber Orchestra hat sich zu einem der am meisten geschätzt und anerkannt musikalischen Institutionen der Balearen. Wohnhaft Orchester des Festivals von Mahon und Ciutadella bietet Konzertsaison mit sechs Produktionen pro Jahr. So weit, dank seiner Vielseitigkeit, hat mehr als 170 Werke aus allen Epochen und Stilrichtungen zur Verfügung gestellt, von symphonischen zur Kammer.

Durchgeführt am Anfang von Fernando Marina OCIM die Werke seit 2001 mit renommierten Gastdirigenten und Gordan Nikolic, Dmitri Sitkovestky, Paul Badura-Skoda, Maxim Rysanov Barry Sargent, Michael Thomas, Salvador Mas, Edmon Colomer, Andrew Watkinson, Vasko Vassilev, Liana Issakadze, Joseph Vincent, Christopher Soler, Manuel Valdivieso, Xavier Puig, Virginia Martinez, Simon Bernardini, Matthew Trusler, Farran James, Kai Gleusteen, Corrado Bowls, Mark Peters, Lina Tur Company und John Friedemann Breuninger, viele welche fungierte auch als Solisten.

Einige der herausragenden Leistungen in der Geschichte der OCIM sind das “Concierto de Aranjuez” mit David Russell, der “Eroica” von Beethoven und Schostakowitsch Kammersymphonie op.110 Michael Thomas, “El Amor Brujo” mit Edmon Colomer, Mozart Symphony 40 mit Salvador Mas, das Beethoven Violinkonzert mit Gordan Nikolic und Mendelssohn mit Dmitri Sitkovetsky, Cello Concerto in C-Dur von Haydn mit Natalie Clein, einer Romanze mit Virginia Sigfried Martinez, die núm.9 Mozart Klavierkonzert mit Paul Badura-Skoda Stationen mit Vasko Vassilev Vivaldi, Piazzolla Stationen Porteñas Gleusteen mit Kai, die Krönungsmesse mit der Kapelle und der Concert Davidica In bietet seit 2004 ununterbrochen.

Im Abschnitt Rekord, den Rekord OCIM 2000 “Requiem” James Alaquer die San Antonio Choral Sänger Joan Pons, Raquel Pierotti, Luca Casali und Leitung von John Company, mit bot eine Masse Konzert in der Kirche von St. Mary Mahon. Mit dem Label “Music Column” hat zwei weitere Werke aufgezeichnet: 2006 eine CD mit Barockmusik mit Cembalo Diego Ares und der Richtung der Geiger James Farran, und im Oktober 2009 das Album mit dem Titel “Im Schatten das Piano “, wo er spielt drei Konzerte für Hammerflügel mit Isabella und Felix die Richtung Andrew Watkinson. Gegründet in Barcelona im Jahr 2007 mit dem Ziel der authentischen Interpretation der Musik des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts mit den Mitteln des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sie haben ihr Können von Musikern wie Erich Höbarth, Lorenzo Coppola, Paul und Manfredo Kraemer Valetti erlernt.

Das Ensemble Méridien besteht aus jungen Musikern mit internationaler Orchester-und Kammermusikerfahrung. Nach einer Ausbildung in Spanien, haben sie ihr Können auf dem Gebiet der Alten Musik und Improvisation in Belgien, Holland, Frankreich, Deutschland und Italien erweitert.

In seiner kurzen Karriere hat das Ensemble an bedeutenden Festivals und Konzerten in Spanien teilgenommen, wie der Semana de Música Antigua in Mataró, dem Festival de música sacra in Teneriffa, im Auditorium Mercè in Girona, in der Basilika von Montserrat, dem Fontana d’Or de Caixa in Girona oder dem ANTIQVA Festival der La Caixa-Stiftung, internationalen Festivals wie dem Festival von Ambronay, wo sie im Jahr 2011 eine der Hauptgruppen waren , und dem Fabolous Fringe Festival in Utrecht 2011. Dort gewannen sie den Publikumspreis.

Benedetti hat Publikum und Kritiker gleichermaßen mit ihrer Musikalität und Eleganz fasziniert.
Geboren in Schottland und italienischer Abstammung startete Nicola Benedetti Violinunterricht im Alter von fünf Jahren. Im Jahr 1997 trat sie in die Yehudi Menuhin Schule ein, wo sie mit Natasha Boyarskaya studierte. Kurz nach dem Verlassen der Yehudi Menuhin Schule, setzte sie ihr Studium mit Maciej Rakowski und Pavel Vernikov fort. Es folgten weitere Zusammenarbeiten mit renommierten Lehrern und Künstlern.
Benedetti debütierte 2010 bei Las Proms und trat auf Festivals wie dem Tivoli in Kopenhagen, dem Elchternach in Luxemburg auf und war als Künstlerin beim Istanbul Festival im Jahr 2011 eingeladen. Sie gab Konzerte in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hong Kong, Paris, New York, Boston, Washington DC und Sacile. Im Jahr 2011 gab sie ihr Debüt in Südamerika mit dem Simon Bolivar Orchester Venezuela, welches Diego Matheuz leitete. Sie belegte dort zahlreiche Meisterkurse mit dem revolutionären Programm “El Sistema”.

Im Jahr 2012 erhielt sie die Auszeichnung für die beste Künstlerin der British Music Awards, weiterhin gab sie in der Saison zwei Aufführungen mit dem Symphonieorchester London beim Enescu Festival in Bukarest und dem International Festival in Edinburgh Festival, unter der Leitung von Valery Gergiev.

Miguel Poveda, singer-song writer 2. August
Geboren in Barcelona und aufgewachsen in Badalona. Poveda begann mit 15 Jahren im Kreis der Flamencogruppen Kataloniens zu singen. Im Jahr 1993 begann er seine professionelle Karriere, im Folgenden gewann er vier große Auszeichnungen: die Premio Lámpara Minera (die bedeutendste des Flamencos) und drei Preise beim Festival Nacional del Cante de las Minas de La Unión (Murcia).

Poveda nahm an den bedeutendsten nationalen und internationalen Musikfestivals teil, er sang in Konzertsälen wie dem Odeón in Paris, dem Liceo von Barcelona, dem Teatro Real in Madrid, der Carnegie Hall und dem Lincoln Center in New York, dem Wiener Konzerthaus, dem Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, dem Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rom, dem Sadler’s Wells in London, dem Maestranza in Sevilla… Weiterhin wirkte er mit Künstlern wie Enrique Morente, Carmen Linares, Paco de Lucía, Manolo Sanlúcar, Joan Manuel Serrat, Santiago Auserón, Alejandro Sanz und vielen anderen Musikern und Interpreten zusammen. Poveda trat als Interpret in verschiedenen Filmen auf: Fados y Flamenco, La question humaine, Los abrazos rotos. Seine Diskografie enthält neun Sammelwerke, unter denen die Platte Coplas del Querer eine Goldene und eine Silberne Schallplatte und verschiedene andere Musikauszeichnungen erhalten hat.

Während seiner Karriere wurde Poveda mit herausragenden Preisen wie dem Premio Nacional de Música 2007, dem Premio Nacional de Cultura de Cataluña 2011, dem Premio de la Cátedra de Flamencología de Jerez, der Solidaritätsmedaille für sein Benefizkonzert der Fundación Andex und der Medalla de Andalucía 2012. Geboren in Maó, Menorca.Debütierte im Gran Teatro del Liceo im Jahr 1992, einer Bühne, auf welcher er reichlich mit hundert Aufführungen überraschte. Unter jenen war auch die Gala der Wiedereröffnung, bei welcher die Oper Turandot, dirigiert von Núria Espert, gespielt wurde. Sintes wirkte regelmäßig in den Programmen des Auditorio in Barcelona, dem Palau de la Música Catalana oder bei Amics de l’Òpera de Sabadell mit, wobei er die katalanische und menorquinische Musik stark förderte.

Sintes debütierte erfolgreich im Concertgebouw Amsterdam und in Ländern wie Frankreich, Italien, Andorra, Venezuela, Peru, Japan, China und den USA. Gleichfalls tat er dies innerhalb Spaniens in Madrid, Malaga, Granada, Teneriffa, Valencia, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Santiago und Palma, wobei nur einige Städte mit bedeutungsvollen Theatern und Konzerthäusern genannt seien. Er trat dabei unter anderem unter der Leitung von Größen wie Uwe Mund, Ros Marbà, Nello Santi, Marco Armigliato, Franz Paul Decker, von Dohnànyi, Richard Boninge, Josep Pons, Betrand de Billy, Eugene Kohn auf.

Seine Diskographie enthält Werke wie Turandot, carmen, El Paradís de les Muntanyes, Contranit, Oda a Verdaguer, Garcia Lorca, Hamlet, Manon, De la tierra latina (Gefördert durch Japan), Requiem von Benguerel, El Timbaler del Bruc, Ave Maria, Urbs und Música para Delfos, herausgegeben für Diskografien wie Columna Música, EMI-Classics, Naxos, TDK, RTVE-Musica, TWO-Corporation, Discmedi-Blau, Virgin-Classics.
