Northern Beaches

These beaches are not as accessible but they are so varied and spectacular. They lie under rocky outcrops of dark shale or terracotta-coloured clay, and the coarse sand has gold and russet tones. The sea can change colour from dark navy to vivid blue to palest green. The sea bed is rocky and perfect for snorkeling with a fantastic variety of fish and cormorants. Other stunning beaches on the north coast are Cala Morell (also great for snorkeling and scuba-diving) and Arenal den Castell. But to find somewhere truly remote and special visitors must see Cala Tortuga, Cala Pilar, Cavalleria or Pregonda.
